Rhett Hutchence tells: Michael’s daughter & our family feud

It’s 15 years this week since the tragic death of rock star Michael Hutchence and still his family are at war – feuding over the INXS singer’s memorabilia and his late mother’s $2 million will.

But in an exclusive interview with New Idea – out today – the charismatic singer’s younger brother Rhett says of the bitter struggle:

"I have given up and given in."

However, he has no regrets about siding against his mum Patricia Glassop and now estranged half-sister Tina over the custody of the singer’s daughter, Tiger – who was raised by her late mum Paula Yates’ ex-husband Sir Bob Geldof.

"She’s a smart girl, a real credit to Bob,’ says her doting uncle, who vows to ensure she receives the INXS memorabilia left to her in Patricia’s will.

"She sings and plays guitar in an all-girl band with three of her school friends. You can see she has an inkling to be on stage, which is nice."

Since charming, sexy Michael was found dead in a Sydney hotel room at age 37, his family have endured a litany of loss.

But the bitter battle between Rhett and his sister Tina – over their mother’s legacy – is perhaps the final episode in a long-running saga that has sparked headlines around the world.

"As far as I’m concerned, I do not have a sister anymore, and I am OK with that," says 50-year-old Rhett, a former heroin addict.

"I am happy with my lot and happy in my skin."

But the father-of-three admits that contentment has been hard won.
