  • After three plus weeks of isolation, Chris Cuomo has been cleared to leave quarantine, and shared a video that captured his family reuniting.

  • He also revealed that his wife Cristina has stopped experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 after seven days.

  • Both Chris and Cristina will continue to social distance from others outside of their home.

Chris Cuomo has finally rejoined his wife and family after quarantining himself for more than three weeks. The 49-year-old CNN journalist shared a video of himself leaving his basement on Monday afternoon, where he had been broadcasting live over the last few weeks, sharing updates on his health after battling many serious COVID-19 symptoms, including high fever and shortness of breath. In his Instagram video, Chris says that he's been cleared by officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to re-enter his home — and he's not the only one. Chris' wife Cristina, 50, has also stopped quarantining away from her family after she tested positive for COVID-19.

"My wife, she was cleared by the CDC," he said in his Instagram-shared video. "She doesn't have a fever, she doesn't have the symptoms anymore, more than seven days from her quarantine." Later, during an airing of Cuomo Prime Time, Chris explained Cristina's speedy recovery to viewers in a conversation with Atlanta's Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, adding that she “has once again proven that she is the stronger part of the couple."

"She's out of quarantine, and she dealt with it in a fraction of the time, so we are among the blessed," he said.

Cristina hasn't posted an update of her own as of yet, but it's clear that her own recovery timeline is different than CNN viewers may have expected. After Chris announced that she tested positive for COVID-19 on a live segment last week, Cristina took to Instagram to share details of how the illness impacted her; mostly, keeping her from seeing her children as she isolated herself. "But the only frustrating part is I can’t be there for my kids right now in the way they need me as Chris is in isolation too still, no fever, and feeling better," she shared at the time.

While both Chris and his wife seem to have largely moved past their COVID-19 symptoms, he did admit that the family is "still a little scared." The family is still practicing social distancing outside of their household, and as Chris shared in his video, the entire Cuomo family will wear face masks while spending time outside.

New York is among states asking residents to cover their face when they're outside, as it's facing more than 247,000 confirmed cases as of April 21. On Monday, Chris shared another video to his Instagram Story of time spent outside walking after being cleared to leave his basement. “Finally outside,” he says to the camera, beneath a protective surgical mask. In a caption on the video, he explained he felt winded while walking, adding that he was unsure if it was the mask or lingering COVID-19 fatigue. "Virus ‘gone’ but [my] body may take weeks to come back," he wrote. "Appreciate the support. Truly."
