Cheating man proposed while drunk on NYE and now he wants the ring back

Christmas and New Year’s is a notorious time for wedding proposals everywhere you look.

However, one man got so caught up in the festive cheer when he was drunk, that he popped the question to his girlfriend.

It turns out that the man actually proposed to the wrong woman, as he was meant to get down on one knee and give the ring to the girl he was cheating on his girlfriend with.

“I’m seeing someone else, wanted to break up with her,” the man said in a Reddit post.

“I bought the ring for a work colleague, wasn’t planning to propose until the holiday we planned.

However, now the man’s proposal is common knowledge amongst his friends and family.

“It’s been posted on my friends Snapchat, my girlfriends Facebook page, everywhere,” he said.

“I saw people proposing so I wanted to go with the flow and proposed to my girlfriend whilst partially pissed.

“Can I get the ring back and cancel the engagement please?”

Needless to say, the man was mercilessly blasted in the comment section, with one person simply saying ‘holy hell those poor women’.

“I feel so bad for the girlfriend. He knowingly betrayed her, and still doesn’t have the guts to tell her he is a two-timing s***,” another person said.

“I’d keep the ring from him, sell it, and use the proceeds to send myself on vacation,” one commenter said.

Many people are speculating about whether or not the story is real, as it seems too bizarre to be true.

:I mean it could be fake, but this stuff does happen in real life. It’s just usually you hear it from the innocent party after they found out. It’s rare that we get a glimpse of what the guilty party is thinking as they cheat and try to live double lives,” one person said.
