"I Will Not Tolerate It": Charli XCX Responded To Reports That Fans Are Chanting "Death To Taylor" At Her Concerts
Charli XCX is having a huge summer.
Her latest album Brat is a critical and commercial success, and if you've been online at all in the last few weeks, you know that it's the only thing people have been really talking about lately.
You might also be aware that Brat just missed debuting at the top of the UK charts due to the continued chart-topping run of Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department.
In the US, it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, where Taylor also reigns supreme.
Because pop music fandom is deeply unhinged as of late, the supposed sense of competition between Charli's and Taylor's fans has gotten a bit out of hand. We're not going to link to any of the back-and-forth stuff, but you've probably already seen some of it.
There's also been a few videos circulating that allege fans at Charli's recent run of shows are chanting "Death to Taylor!" during the show. Again, if you find yourself doing such a thing in public...it might be time to reevaluate your life choices.
Apparently, Charli agrees. Earlier today, she took to her IG story to share a message to her fans atop a screenshot of a TikTok purportedly showing fans in São Paulo chanting "Taylor is dead" during her performance.
"Can the people who do this please stop," she wrote. "Online or at my shows."
"It is the opposite of what I want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community."
"I will not tolerate it."
Fair enough!
