Charleston's Monthly ‘Golden Hour’ Beach Meetup Is a Dog Lover's Dream Come True

There’s something uniquely pure and joyful about dogs and the ocean. They take in the sights, sounds, and smells with a childlike wonder, and slowing down to watch them can be a calming therapy for humans.

If you love dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, this waterfront meetup is an event you may want to join. These cheerful dogs frolicking in the surf are enough to make any weekend memorable.

Check out this Charleston, SC, beachside play party in a video shared on July 29:

This may be what heaven looks like, at least for those who love dogs! Handsome Brooks (@goldenboy.brooks) joined his pals at this Charleston beachside monthly meetup for Golden Retrievers. It’s fondly referred to as “Golden Hour” (@goldenhourchs). It sure looks like the happiest hour of the month as dozens of Goldens played together in the waves. They are so excited to be together! As Brooks’s mom points out, it is essential to watch your dog because many pups look very similar, making it hard to keep track. No doubt! She also questions whether these dogs know they are all the same breed and that they were each so kind and loving. At the very least, they seem to recognize the joyful personalities within each other. She reveals that she’s unsure who had a better time, her or her beautiful pup. It sure looks like a great day for everyone.

Where to Find Dog Meetups

If this sounds like your idea of the perfect weekend, dog meetups are held regularly throughout the country, and Wag reports, it’s easy to find an event near you. Social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, and Meetup can be terrific resources for local happenings. For example, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, hosts regular meetups for Golden Retrievers, and there is also a large annual event in Austin. Besides these Golden Retriever hours, there are events for other breeds, such as Huskies and Corgis, as well as meetups for dogs of all breeds, both large and small. These gatherings are an excellent way for dogs to socialize, exercise, and receive plenty of mental stimulation.

People expressed their fondness for this concept. One person shared, “Wow! What a great get-together. I think that is a definite win for everyone. Friends, family, bystanders, and, of course, all the beautiful pups. What an amazing time! I love it!” It's a sensational idea. Viewer @beaglenamedhoney responded, “We have a Regal Beagles club in San Diego. Yes, Beagles recognize their breed. I have seen my Beagle cross a street on a leash to greet a Beagle she does not know.” That’s interesting to learn. Viewer @henris_mom3 reported, “There is a ‘Golden Day’ in Golden, Colorado. A big crowd gathers with their dogs. I mean hundreds. It’s not just an hour, but the whole day. You can Google it.” That sounds like a lovely day!

Few things are better than seeing our dogs having the time of their lives. After a hard work week, this is the perfect way to recharge and affirm our efforts have been worthwhile.
