"Do You Understand How Difficult It Is To Sound Like That": Chappell Roan Is Being Praised For Her "SNL" Performance That Accomplished Something Many Performers Struggle With
Performing on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest is a significant career boon, but it isn't easy. The SNL spotlight can turn singers into stars, like Adele; however, it can also cause major career road bumps for others, as it arguably did for Lana Del Rey and Ashlee Simpson.
This is relevant as, over the weekend, Chappell Roan made her SNL debut in a much-talked-about episode hosted by John Mulaney, with a guest appearance by Vice President Kamala Harris.
Based on the online reaction to Chappell's performance, it's safe to say she's firmly in the camp of singers who summited the SNL mountain.
Not only did she achieve an unlikely musical feat while performing her signature song "Pink Pony Club"...
...she also debuted a new queer country anthem, "The Giver."
Both musical numbers received huge acclaim on Twitter, so here are some of the best reactions to Chappell's performances:
First, Chappell did something highly uncommon on live TV while performing "Pink Pony Club." She not only sounded flawless but also got the live in-studio audience to be heard on screen while singing along:
do you understand how difficult it is to sound like that in that studio

SNL studio is famously a place where singers’ careers take hits usually only seen on UFC but Chappell defeated the evil acoustics with the power of lesbianism https://t.co/6pD22jagte

For her second performance on the show, Chappell surprised many by debuting a new song, "The Giver." The track isn't out yet, but this ode to queer country love is already impressing her fans:
