Mass manhunt after Sydney shooting
Chaos has unfolded on a Sydney street after a shooting in the city’s west, with police now searching for a multiple attackers.
Police were called to Esme Ave in Chester Hill at about 4:30pm on Thursday after hearing reports of shots being fired.
Officers found a 48-year-old man suffering “minor injuries” after being shot at. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being released at the scene.
The man was shot in the chest and a woman was also attacked with a baseball bat, 9 News reported.
NSW Paramedics confirmed they treated a woman in her 40s who was suffering from head and back injuries believed to be related to the shooting incident.
She was taken to Bankstown Hospital in a stable condition.
Channel 9 reported a group of four people arrived at the scene with a gun, knives and a baseball bat before forcing their way inside the home to allegedly confront those inside.
No arrests have been made and police are looking for a “number of people” believed to be behind the attack.
Police cars were seen lining the suburban street, which is still considered an active crime scene, with officers interviewing neighbours and those who witnessed the incident.
