Channel Seven has hit back after fans claim they were left unable to vote during last night’s Australia’s Got Talent finale.

People took to Twitter after pole dancer, Kristy Sellars, took out the talent show’s top spot, claiming they were unable to have their say as Channel Seven’s app, 7plus, crashed and voting lines were backed up as they tried to cast their vote.

“What a joke the voting was, with the lines jammed, I wonder how many votes actually got cast,” one fan Robert tweeted. “Voting Lines are now CLOSED!!!”

Channel Seven responds

Dozens of others also took to Twitter to share a similar experience but a Channel Seven spokesperson says the issue was a minor one and was quickly resolved.

“After a few minutes of voting being opened, one of the 7plus services had an issue with autoscaling, leading to some users not being able to access the 7plus vote page on the 7plus mobile apps,” they claimed in a statement.

“This only affected some users and was quickly resolved within the voting period.”

The statement is at odds with certain fans’ statements online.

Fans say lines down, app crashed

Many claimed they weren’t able to access the app or phone line before voting closed, sharing screenshots and irate reactions on social media.

“Can’t vote,” another fan agreed, sharing her own screenshot of the app’s error message.

“Retweet if you couldn’t vote due to tech issues,” another user wrote online.

Other reported issues with SMS voting, claiming texts went undelivered.

Anger over finalists

The furious fan reaction came after fan favourite Mitch Tambo missed out on a spot in the top four, despite twice receiving a golden buzzer.

Gobsmacked fans took to Twitter to add to the dissatisfaction with their thoughts on the judge’s choice for the final four.

“So upset and hurt, Mitch deserved to be in the top 4,” another fan tweeted.

Overall, the sentiment was far from impressed.

“Channel 7 really need to pull their socks up,” one fan summed it up.
