Channel Nine issues 'warning' to MAFS 2023 cast ahead of premiere
The new season kicks off next week.
Just a few days after Channel Nine officially announced the cast of Married At First Sight season ten, the network has ‘issued a warning’ to this year’s brides and grooms.
A source tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Nine came down hard on the show’s participants after discovering that several have already started trying to make the most of their newfound fame.
“The cast have all handed their Instagram accounts over now ahead of the show, and production have seen some of them already DMing brands trying to score freebies and Instagram deals,” the insider claims.
“Some of them have been warned this breaches their contracts and makes the show look like a joke.”

MAFS 2023: First trailer reveals emotional groom in tears at wedding
It comes after brides Janelle Han, Melinda Willis and Evelyn Ellis have already scored themselves verified blue ticks on the platform before even debuting on TV.
The trio each have an impressive amount of Instagram followers ahead of the show’s premiere thanks to their influencer careers, with TikToker Janelle sitting at 36.7k, beauty CEO Melinda at 149k, and former Big Brother UK contestant Evelyn at 64.5k.
Evelyn, who will be an intruder in the upcoming season, has also been promoting multiple fashion and beauty brands in recent weeks as her profile has increased in the lead-up to the show.
Surprising detail in new trailer
Channel Nine unveiled the first official trailer for the new season of MAFS last month featuring brief glimpses at the participants in their wedding attire, shots of multiple people in tears, and expert Mel Schilling looking shocked.
One rather dramatic scene in the trailer shows a couple meeting for the first time at the aisle and holding hands. The video then changes from black and white to full colour as they share a very romantic kiss and rose petals fall from the ceiling.

However, Yahoo Lifestyle previously revealed that the handsome groom and blushing bride won’t actually be a part of MAFS this season as they are actors who were cast for the video.
A source told us: “Channel Nine doesn't want to reveal which couples are matched together so to prevent spoilers they hire actors for the kissing shots.”
The new season of Married At First Sight kicks off Monday, January 30 at 7:30pm on Channel Nine
