CBA customers frustrated amid online banking outage
Australia's largest banking giant has been left scrambling after several customers complained about being unable to access online banking services.
Commonwealth Bank customers began reporting issues with the Netbank platform from around 11:30am AEDT, according to Down Detector.
Most of the problems appear to be around the online banking service, which allows customers to make online transfers, check their account balances and statements, and make payments.
Down Detector's 'live outage' map shows that users from across the country were hit by the outage.
As Australia's largest bank, the issue has the potential to impact 15.9 million of its customers and their access to online banking.
Frustrated CBA customers took to social media in an attempt to find more information around the inaccessible platform.
One user said he was experiencing issues with the bank's app as well as Netbank, and fellow CBA customer soon replied to the tweet confirming Netbank was down for him, too.
Yep, looks like Netbank is down 😬

Another person said they were not able to access one of their accounts through Netbank and detailed their experience about being put on hold when trying to contact the bank.
One of my accounts is not accessible in Netbank. Irksome chatbot thing says I need to talk to a human. Attempts so far:
1. Callback made over 2 hours later at a time when I couldn't answer
2. On hold for over an hour, gave up
3. On hold for 30+ mins and counting @CommBank pic.twitter.com/TDJTdJYZ12— Michele Playfair (@MichelePlayfair) March 1, 2021
Several others reached out about issues regarding Netbank.
"Is Netbank down or is it just my 2 computers?" one asked. Another wanted to know when the issue would be resolved.
CBA's social media handlers advised users "try and log into Netbank again", and asked users to "try another browser" or to use the app instead.
A spokesperson for the major bank told Yahoo Finance that there were no issues with Netbank, and that only a small number of users experienced issues.
