Cavs rookie Kevin Porter Jr. leaves game with knee sprain, will be reevaluated in 2 weeks

Cleveland Cavaliers rookie forward Kevin Porter Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a left knee injury.

Porter suffered the injury in the third quarter when Robert Covington stepped on his heel. Porter immediately crumpled to the floor and clutched his knee before receiving medical attention from the Cavaliers training staff.

Porter left for the locker room and was later ruled out for the remainder of the game. The initial details of his injury were unclear, but the Cavaliers clarified on Monday that Porter suffered a left knee sprain. The team also announced that Porter will be reevaluated in two weeks. All of this is good news, since Porter’s injury initially seemed much worse.

Porter, the No. 30 pick in April’s draft, is averaging 8.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and two assists while shooting 43.7 percent in 21.9 minutes per game.
