Cate Blanchett is always one to watch on the red carpet, especially for choices that ignite conversations about sustainable fashion. She might repurpose a dress or, in the case of Tuesday's "Borderlands" event, some tablewear.

The actor, who stars in the forthcoming intergalactic and action-packed movie, sported a particularly striking top by 2024 LVMH Prize finalist Hodakova: It's made of 102 spoons (and probably, therefore, weighs a hefty load). She also wore the brand in a Vogue China spread earlier this year, opting for silver plates instead of spoons. The emerging Swedish label, launched in 2021 by Ellen Hodakova Larsson, is focused on pieces made from recycled materials. Per Blanchett's stylist Elizabeth Stewart, the designer is "changing the conversation of what sustainable fashion means today."

"Ellen uses heirlooms like these vintage spoons sourced in the Swedish countryside to create unexpected proportions and new associations. Grandma would be proud!" Stewart wrote in a caption on Instagram.

Beyond promoting ethical consumption, might there be another message behind the look? We're purely speculating, but perhaps the abundance of silver spoons also serve as a tongue-in-cheek sartorial callback to the controversy surrounding Blanchett's recent comments calling herself "middle class." Regardless, she's certainly caught the internet's attention once again, and confirmed Hodakova is a label to watch.
