He’s the oil rig worker who stole viewers’ hearts during a blockbuster Lego Masters run, but fan favourite Gerhard is almost unrecognisable in a throwback snap.

Admitting the picture was taken ‘a long time ago’ the show’s runner-up is seen rocking a 90s-style mullet and moustache.

During his time on Lego Masters, Gerhard gained a reputation for his creative constructions and buzzed haircut, which was notably absent from the throwback snap.

“Very young and as wild as the wild west. But this was a very long time ago,” he captioned the post.

But fans were quick to put their support behind the TV star’s once-trendy look, with some noting the haircut’s appeal has stood the test of time.

“That is legendary mullet. And almost a smile,” wrote one follower, in reference to Gerhard’s trademark stoic expression.

“Still got it at 53 my hero,” admitted another, pointing out his present age.

“You look like a movie star!!! Look at that hair.”

And although Gerhard is clearly a winner among his newfound followers, his second place onscreen finish left some viewers disappointed by the outcome.

Online, many users pointed out David and G’s amazing Theme Park creation actually had moving parts, unlike eventual winners Henry and Cade’s.

“Who else is totally stunned by that outcome. It was awesome but it didn't move,” one person wrote.

Ultimately, it was their display and ‘ingenious’ use of lego parts that gave the win to Henry and Cade, who received the most votes from the fans and judges present.
