The Duchess of Cornwall’s cousin has come under fire for allegedly 'interfering with' guests’ reviews at his hotel in Scotland.
Dru Edmonstone, Camilla’s maternal cousin, and the the West Highland Way Hotel in Blanefield are reportedly being investigated by Trip Advisor and have been issued with a warning.
The discrepancy was spotted by the site after 18 five-star reviews were posted in one month—all following a previous bevy of negative reactions to stays at the hotel.
Thickening the plot was another claim which saw a reviewer suggest Mr Edmonstone or another staff member attempted to alter honest reviews.
“Beautiful location but spoiled by the owner pressurising guests into submitting positive reviews on TripAdvisor which made our stay uncomfortable,” they wrote.
“If he put the same effort in to making his guests happy, I’m sure people would write positive reviews without feeling pressured into doing so.”
Guests speak out
Another guest alleged the accomodation’s facilities were great exaggerated by staff and its online description.
"This is not a hotel but clearly someone renting out rooms in their house and allowing walkers to pitch a tent in their garden at a cost,” they wrote.
"The rooms are over priced and dirty, the breakfast is well stale cereal with numerous options of stale cereals. I probably should have checked the dates.
"The poor reviews on here are the accurate ones. Don’t be duped by the supposed 5 star ones."
The claims come more than a year after Mr Edmonstone was sentenced to 21 months jail for making false benefit claims and scamming a London council.
