Camilla's brolly bother at Royal Ascot as the Queen braves the rain
Even the royals aren’t immune to a bit of inclement weather as the Duchess of Cornwall proved on day two of Royal Ascot.
Camilla summed it up for all of us when she appeared to struggle with her umbrella while arriving at the racing event with other members of the royal family in their horse-drawn procession.
The 71-year-old had her clear Fulton brolly over her head as the carriage began to make its way around the Berkshire racecourse.
Meanwhile the Queen, who was seated next to her son’s second wife, opted to go uncovered and brave the drizzle.
As the royal carriage appeared on camera Camilla quickly tried to close her umbrella but struggled in the process.
No official word on the colour that the Queen is wearing today (pastel blue perhaps?) but no ☂️ 🙌

I spoke too soon. There must be a bit of rain again at Royal Ascot because Camilla just put up her umbrella again. pic.twitter.com/ZWNixbudiY

The senior royal was no doubt trying to give racegoers a clear look at Her Majesty, who is known to wear bright colours so she can be seen in a crowd.
Camilla later popped her brolly back open while the 93-year-old monarch remained unsheltered from the elements.
Twitter users quickly picked up on that, with one saying, “Camilla using an umbrella at royal Ascot, while the Queen is being old school. [sic]”
One user even went as far as to brand Camilla a “wimp” while another praised the Queen as “incredible.”
What a wimp the Duchess of Cornwall is ! Sat by the Her Majesty the Queen with an umbrella over herself. No umbrella for the Queen, what a brilliant monarch!

Day 2 of #RoyalAscot about to start. The Queen did not use an umbrella during the procession even though it was a steady light rain. She is incredible!!

For Tuesday’s rainy day at the races, the Queen stepped out in a mottled duck egg outfit by Stewart Parvin and a matching floral-adorned hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan.
Camilla teamed with Queen Liz in an aqua outfit accessorised with her go-to aquamarine three-strand pearl necklace.
The previous day, Her Majesty was joined by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and granddaughters Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Blue appeared to be the theme of day one as the Queen, Kate, Zara, Beatrice and Eugenie all sported outfits in the colour, while Sophie, Camilla and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands complemented them in pale pink and blush hues.
The Queen usually attends every day of Royal Ascot, which takes place 18 - 22 June.
