Camila Cabello's cut-out high-leg leotard and sarong look flashes her bikini tan lines
From the Y2K bubble skirt comeback to the jelly shoes revival, there have been a number of surprising spring summer fashion trends that have reclaimed 'en vogue' status this season. But none more so than the sarong. Yes, as in the humble beach cover-up.
For us, the garment conjures mental images of garish, neon bright semi-sheer scarves worn by your mum around the pool on holiday. The association immediately followed by thoughts of David Beckham in a sarong, thanks to the football star's Netflix documentary reminding us of plenty of his and wife Victoria's most iconic '90s outfits, including that unforgettable moment during the 1998 World Cup.
SS24, however, has seen the sarong shake off its bad rep, with none other than Camila Cabello confirming its new and improved standing. The artist was spotted out in Monaco last night [Sunday 16 June] wearing a blue colourblock sarong slung low around her hips and tied at the waist.
She had layered the cover-up over a very risqué halterneck leotard that featured a hugeee cut-out spanning the length of her torso. With a voluminous puffy waist, the design was finished with very high-cut legs that highlighted her bikini bottoms tan lines, perfectly framed between the two garments.
A light blue fluffy coat was worn off her shoulders, with Camila adding clear perspex heels to the look. She accessorised with a cobalt blue satin clutch bag that she gripped in one hand, as well as diamond stud earrings.
Camila isn't the only A-lister to show the sarong her support, with Sienna Miller including the style in her recent collab with Marks & Spencer.
In a more boho aesthetic, the tile-print cotton sarong is reminiscent of pre-loved, vintage pieces Sienna would find amongst the stalls of Portobello Market, with the actress revealing the design is inspired by a scarf gifted to her by her father many years ago.
Yep, consider this your sign a sarong should be top of your holiday packing list this summer. If it's good enough for Camila and Sienna...
