In an interview with Access Hollywood, 52-year-old Diaz said of a sequel: "If Jim's on board, I mean, I've been riding those coattails from day one."
Diaz made the comments while promoting her new Netflix film Back in Action, in which she stars alongside Jamie Foxx.

Diaz's thoughts about a potential Mask sequel come just weeks after her costar Jim Carrey also suggested there could be room for a potential follow-up to the comedy.
Asked by ComicBook.com about what it would take for him to do a sequel, 62-year-old Carrey said, "Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea. If somebody had the right idea, I guess ... "
Directed by Chuck Russell, The Mask follows bank teller Stanley (Carrey), who finds a magical wooden mask that turns him into the titular green-faced trickster with the ability to shapeshift and transform his surroundings.
Using his powers, Stanley must save his love interest Tina Carlyle (Diaz) from mafioso Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene) while evading law enforcement.

Both Carrey and Diaz have appeared in recent projects, despite earlier saying they had retired from acting.
Back in 2022, while promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey said he was planning on retiring from his acting career — though he has since appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and clarified his earlier comments.
"I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just — things tend to change," Carrey shared.
Diaz, meanwhile, has previously joked about being semi-retired, but came out of her 10-year acting hiatus for her new project with Foxx, crediting her costar with her return to Hollywood.
"I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything; not accepting any advances, and then I got this script and thought that maybe it was time," Diaz said on a Jan. 17 episode of The Graham Norton Show. "If I was going to leave my family for 10 hours a day I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business."
“It is a privilege to make films, and we are all so lucky to do what we do," she added. "That the door was even open for me after a decade was amazing. I loved those 10 years for me and my family, but I thought, ‘If I let this go away, if I don’t engage again, and if I don’t give it a chance, I am a fool.’ It might be the beginning of something, but it's here now and I am grateful for it.”
