Cameron Diaz to come out of acting retirement for new Netflix movie with Jamie Foxx

Cameron Diaz has admitted she’s anxious after it was confirmed she is coming out of acting retirement after eight years.

The star hasn’t made a film since 2014 when she starred in an adaptation of the musical Annie alongside Jamie Foxx, who was her co-star in the 1999 film Any Given Sunday.

Now, the 49-year-old is set to teamup with Foxx again for a new movie comedy on Netflix titled Back in Action, from Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon.

Foxx announced the news on social media on Wednesday and shared an audio clip of a phone call between himself and Diaz in which she expressed concerns about getting back into movies.

Foxx captioned the post: “Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION - our new movie with @NetflixFilm . Production starting later this year!!”

Diaz opened up about her decision to step away from the limelight during an interview last year with Kevin Hart on his talk show, Hart to Heart.

The actress – who is married to Good Charlotte star Benji Madden, with whom she welcomed daughter Raddix in December 2019 – explained that she came to the conclusion when she was around 40 that her film career prevented her from managing other parts of her life.

She said: “When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, when you’re the person that is delivering one thing, you’re the person on the screen, all parts of you that isn’t that has to sort of be handed off to other people.”
