Bruce Springsteen Issues 'Fighting Prayer' During Post-Election Concert
Bruce Springsteen sent a short political message to his fellow Americans during his first onstage performance following the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Springsteen openly supported Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The 75-year-old rock star took the stage at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, less than 24 hours after the election was called for Harris’ Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.

At the start of his concert on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Springsteen opened his show by first apologizing for the delayed start time. He explained that he’d encountered flight delays on his way back to Toronto, according to video clips recorded by concertgoers and later shared on social media.
The 20-time Grammy Award winner then gave his guitar a few strums before declaring, “This is a fighting prayer for my country,” and diving into a performance of “Long Walk Home,” a song from his 2007 album, Magic.
Springsteen was one of many musicians who vocally supported the vice president’s campaign and urged voters to make their voices heard on Election Day. The “Born to Run” singer even performed at a Harris rally in Philadelphia, Penn., in late October as he and other Harris supporters worked to drum up voter enthusiasm.
The “Thunder Road” singer made his endorsement in the 2024 election through a video message that he posted on social media on Oct. 3. The New Jersey native identified the election as “one of the most consequential” in U.S. history in the nearly three-minute clip, and categorized Trump as “the most dangerous candidate for president” that he’s seen in his lifetime.
Springsteen performed in Toronto on Wednesday as part of his ongoing Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band 2024 + 2025 World Tour. The tour is slated to continue in Canada with a string of dates this month before heading to England come spring.
