Yahoo Lifestyle Broncos reportedly signing Blake Bortles to one-year deal following Drew Lock injury
Get ready everyone. Quarterback Blake Bortles is coming back to the NFL.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the injury-depleted Denver Broncos are signing Bortles to a one-year contract. He was scheduled to meet with the Broncos on Tuesday morning, but it seems like they decided to go ahead and sign him.

After Drew Lock suffered a severe rotator cuff strain Sunday in Pittsburgh, the Broncos are running low on quarterbacks. Lock’s backup, Jeff Driskel, has been elevated to starter. That leaves practice squadder Brett Rypien as the Broncos’ only other quarterback.
Bortles, a first-round draft pick in 2014, played for the Jacksonville Jaguars through 2018. He was the starter for most of that time, and then spent 2019 as a backup with the Los Angeles Rams. He appeared in three games and started none, attempting a total of three passes and completing one.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Bortles had several practice squad offers before the Broncos came calling. He was looking for a job that would give him a better chance of getting on the field. Lock’s 3-5 week absence could provide that opportunity.
