Brie Larson is Unrecognizable in Hair Transformation for Milestone New Role

Just one day after Brie Larson showed off her long blonde locks in a mirror selfie on Instagram, the 35-year-old Oscar winner returned to the social media platform to reveal a drastically different look.

In a pair of black-and-white photos posted on Monday, Nov. 25, Larson had an all-new hairstyle: a close-cropped pixie cut. Not only was the Marvel star's hair much shorter, it was also significantly darker. Larson laughed in the first snap, looking away from the camera; in the second pic, she gazed directly into the lens with a more thoughtful look on her face.

"Elektra is here," Larson captioned her post, referencing her upcoming role as the title character in a revival of Sophocles' Elektra heading to London's West End in early 2025.

Translated by Anne Carson, Elektra will be directed by Tony nominee Daniel Fish, according to Playbill, and will feature performances by Stockard Channing, Marième Diouf, Greg Hicks and Patrick Vaill. Following a pre-run at the Theatre Royal Brighton from Jan. 13—18, the production will move to London’s Duke of York’s Theatre for previews starting Jan. 24, going on to officially open on Feb. 5.

“I couldn’t be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with Daniel Fish and Anne Carson," Larson said in a statement. "Storytelling has always been the way I organize life, feelings, and experiences. I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story.”
