Bride's bizarre 'bridal batman' veil sparks ridicule

If there’s one thing people tell you when you start the wedding planning process, it’s that you should do things your own way.

And one bride has certainly bucked the trend with her bizarre alternative to the traditional bridal veil.

Photos from the woman’s big day show, which were posted to a wedding shaming Facebook group, show her wearing what has been described by commenters as a ‘bridal Zorro doily mask’ and something that looks like ‘bridal Batman’.

While many brides choose to wear a hairband, a veil or even a jewelled headpiece, this bride clearly wanted more of a masquerade theme on her big day, choosing to hide the top half of her face with the garment.

The wedding took place at the woman’s home and instead of choosing to wear contact lenses, she decided to hand crochet a mask, which she attached to her glasses, in the place of veil.

Instead of lighting candles, saying prayers or having poems read out, this bride and groom chose to do a hula dance mid-ceremony.

People flooded the comments section of the Facebook post with their opinions, with many saying it was one of the most unique items they’ve ever seen a bride don for her wedding day.

“Phantom of the Opera who?,” one person said, while another person commented saying: “I hope that mask becomes an heirloom that she expects her children to wear”.

“This is the best thing I’ve ever seen. Ever. Like, you don’t have to wear contacts, you don’t even have to disguise your glasses, just wear them!!! A bridal zorro doily mask is NOT necessary.” another commenter said.

Others just wanted to know more about the bride and her eccentric fashion.
