Bride and groom turn wedding day into shopping trip at Target

We’ve heard of donating to charity instead of giving out favours at weddings but newlyweds Brad and Jessica Bond set the bar even higher.

At their wedding in Orlando on Saturday night, they took all their guests on a shopping spree at Target for the Toys for Tots initiative.

“On our anniversary, we go and we shop for Toys for Tots, and we donate it,” Brad Bond told the wedding guests in a video shot by News 13.

“So today on our wedding day, we want to start our wedding in the same way, but we want all of you to join us.”

Brad began the tradition seven years ago, when he took Jessica shopping for toys to give to underprivileged families on their first date.

They take this task much more seriously than most.

“We’ll start shopping clearance toys, usually around September-October, and we just stockpile them in our garage,” Brad told WFTV.

Still, he wasn’t sure his bride would be onboard with this plan.

“When I first thought about doing this at our wedding, I was like, I don’t know how she’s going to respond when I ask her if she’ll go to Target in a wedding dress,” he told News 13.

“I asked her, and she immediately lit up and was all for it. And if I didn’t know I had the woman of my dreams before, that cemented it.”

After their first dance, the couple handed out $10 gift cards to their guests and all drove to a Target in Kissimmee.

News crews followed as everyone loaded up carts in their formal wear. Target also donated a cart full of toys during the event.

“I absolutely love it,” Jessica told WFTV. “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
