“It is legitimately a thrill and an honor to be back doing what I love most: drafting enthusiastic pull quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications. Who says you can’t go home again?!” Bob-Waksberg said.
“Long Story Short” is slated to debut in 2025. Per the official logline, the show is “about a family, over time. It’s about the shared history, the inside jokes, the old wounds. If you’ve ever had a mother, father, sibling, partner, or child, this is the show for you and by the way would it kill you to call them?”
Bob-Waksberg is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen will executive produce for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt is supervising producer and will design original art for the series. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers. ShadowMachine will produce out of their LA animation studio.
Since “BoJack,” Bob-Waksberg co-created the Amazon animated series “Undone” and served as a writer and executive producer on the animated series “Tuca & Bertie,” which was created by Hanawalt and was also produced by Tornante and ShadowMachine. The latter show originally debuted on Netflix before moving to Adult Swim for its final two seasons.
“BoJack Horseman” was Netflix’s first original adult animated series. It ran for six seasons at the streamer and developed a strong following and critical praise during its run. It was nominated twice for the Emmy Award for outstanding animated program. Will Arnett voiced the title character, with Aaron Paul, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Thompkins, and character actress Margo Martindale also part of the voice cast.
