Blue Wiggle’s touching tribute

“Tonight my beautiful darling sister passed away from cancer,” he wrote alongside a beautiful childhood photo of the siblings.

While it’s not clear exactly when the black and white family snap was taken, the future musician and his sister look to be aged around five and 10 years respectively.

“She was the sweetest of all sweethearts. Always giving love,” he went on to describe Maria, who he says worked as a nurse for 36 years.

“Compassionate till the end! I am heartbroken. Love you beautiful Maria,” he concluded, calling his late sister by a sweet nickname, “mitten”.

Anthony and Maria’s close bond

Just days before his sister’s passing, the much-loved entertainer shared a series of happy snaps of the pair.

In the photos, Anthony is seated holding a banjo with his sister Maria standing behind and appearing to touch his head.

“I am lucky, very lucky to have a beautiful sister Maria who has always looked after me. ❤️love you Maria,” the Member of the Order of Australia wrote in the caption on September 11.

In the comments section, one of Anthony’s followers asked what his sister was up to, joking that she was “getting nits out of your hair”.

“Checking a brown spot!” Anthony quipped in response.

Celebs rally around Wiggles star

Many of the Blue Wiggle’s high-profile pals have come out to support him during his grief, with Aussie icon Pattie Newton offering her condolences on behalf of herself and her husband, Bert.

“Sending love and prayers B & P,” she wrote.

His bandmate, Emma Watkins aka the Yellow Wiggle, wrote, “🙏🏻🙏🏻💛🙏🏻🙏🏻”.

Anthony’s cousin, Gregory Truman, took to his own Instagram account to farewell his “witty, compassionate” Maria by sharing another childhood pic.

“This was in the early stages of her beautiful life. I can’t believe we’re now trying to come to grips with its end,” he wrote.
