Blake Lively Stars as a Couture-Clad Cat Burglar Alongside Hugh Jackman in Striking “Vogue” Shoot

The 36-year-old actress donned a brand new character — and a jaw-dropping assortment of Cartier jewels — for the magazine's famed September issue

All that glitters is Blake Lively!

The actress and entrepreneur is taking on the role of a glamorous jewel thief for the cover ofVogue's September 2024 issue. In the cinematic editorial spread directed by Baz Luhrmann, the actress, 36, stars as "The Cat" for a Hitchcock-inspired Vogue "fashion fantasia" titled “The Heist of the Heart.” Hugh Jackman appears as her co-star L’Ombre.

The photos, spliced between imagined dialogue between the two characters, depict Lively and Jackman in a variety of scenes set in Monte Carlo — the interior of a casino, speeding down the streets on a vespa and lounging seaside to name a few.

In one shot, the Gossip Girl alum perches on a ledge in a black Balenciaga catsuit, her hands full of glittering stolen gems.

Lively, who in the accompanying interview calls Luhrmann her "favorite director," says she jumped at the chance to work with the Hollywood great.

“My life has become more intimate,” she told the outlet. “But when they said Baz will do it, I thought, Okay, I’ve always wanted to work with Baz. Even if it’s just a week doing a photo shoot for Vogue, that’s still working with him. Seeing through his lens and how he tells stories."

In the casino scene, Lively wears a dazzling necklace with eight cushion and oval-shaped faceted Burmese rubies that previously belonged to Elizabeth Taylor. The actress tells Vogue that during the shoot, she had a foam mat below her "in case the necklace fell."

Aside from its undeniable glamour, the photoshoot highlights the friendship between the A Simple Favor actress and Jackman, 55. The Australian actor is a longtime pal of Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

The Marvel stars recently premiered their new movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. On Tuesday, August 6, Lively celebrated her own premiere for It Ends with Us, where Reynolds, 47, and Jackman supported the star on the red carpet.

In an Instagram post, Jackman called his collaboration with Lively a "full blown cinematic experience."

"When one gets the privileged call to be a part of a @voguemagazine shoot - you don’t blink, you say yesssss!" the actor wrote in the caption. "No less for their September issue.
