Blake Lively Shares How She Made Her Daughters’ “Hocus Pocus” Halloween Costumes: ‘I Did All This’

The 'It Ends with Us' actress shares daughters James, Inez and Betty, as well as son Olin, with her husband Ryan Reynolds

Blake Lively is showing off her costume crafting skills.

The actress, 36, has revealed exactly how she created her kids' Halloween costumes from scratch in October 2023. While chatting with Vogue ahead of the release of her latest film, It Ends With Us, the Gossip Girl alum hinted at her costume-creating talents.

Referencing the Hocus Pocus witch outfits the proud mom put together for her daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4,  Lively told the outlet, "I got cloaks on Etsy and went to the Garment District, got all the trims. Look, I did all this, the sweetheart shape, the details on the sleeve...”

The mom of four went into even more detail about her costume construction on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Aug. 4, sharing a picture of the impressively intricate outfits. "In fairness I don't know how to pattern make," Lively explained.

"So I start with a base dress (or broom or wig) from Etsy or Amazon and build out all the layers and trim and details and flourishes and build from there, applying on top," she continued.

The A Simple Favor 2 star then shared that her passion for DIY fashion was inspired by her own mother.

"My mom used to make everything from scratch," Lively wrote. "I LOVED and appreciated that much but never learned how myself.

She added that she still has "bucket list skills left to learn."

Lively even tagged Hocus Pocus stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy on their respective miniature witch outfit.

The actress shares her three girls with husband Ryan Reynolds, as well as their son Olin, whom they welcomed in February 2023.

It Ends with Us premieres Aug. 9 in theaters.
