Australian actor Luke Arnold has come a long way since slogging it out as an 18-year-old assistant swordmaster on the 2003 film Peter Pan.

Within the next decade, the WAAPA alum had graduated from bit-parts on local soaps to starring roles in two big-budget TV series.

In 2014, he set sail as the swashbuckling pirate Long John Silver in the US series Black Sails, but made time to return down under to play the late Michael Hutchence in the mini-series INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.

The latter performance earned him a Silver Logie award for Most Outstanding Actor.

More recently, Luke joined the cast for the second season of home-grown series Glitch.

Now, the 35-year-old is set to release his debut novel, a contemporary fantasy titled The Last Smile in Sunder City, in November this year.

Luke chatted about all this and more with host Kate Peck in the Build Series Sydney studio.
