As an heir to the throne it’s understandable that Prince George has certain rules he has to follow.
But there’s one royal protocol the five-year-old has dictated to him that is just plain bizarre.
The youngster — who just celebrated his fifth birthday — isn’t allowed to wear pants until he turns eight, and it’s kinda weird. England is cold guys!
It’s well documented that Will and Kate’s eldest is only ever seen in shorts and according to the Express, he will not graduate to full pants until he turns eight.
- The one tradition Meghan Markle will have to shun if she gets pregnant
- The real reason Prince George always wears shorts
This is a rite of passage that dates back to the 16th century and something his three-month-old brother Louis will have to do too.
The only time George has been seen wearing pants was recently, at his uncle Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May.
It’s not the only rule George and his younger siblings may have to follow thanks to their royal heritage.
The kids aren’t allowed to accept presents, something they may struggle to understand at such a tender age.
Official royal guidelines states, “gifts offered by private individuals living in the UK not personally known to the member of the Royal Family should be refused”.
While the regulation make sense to most adults, it will no doubt be a difficult one for a young kid to get their head around.
After all, who doesn’t like getting pressies?
Another strange rule he faces is having to travel solo once he turns 12.
An old tradition dictates that no two direct heirs to the thrown are allowed to travel together at any one time — which means no more plane rides with his parents as his dad William is second in line to the British throne.
Poor George. Seems like being a royal comes at a hefty price.
