'Our sweet baby girl': Bindi and Chandler announce new family member

Bindi Irwin, 21, and her 22-year-old fiancé Chandler Powell have announced some very exciting news on the very first day of 2020: their little family is ‘growing.’

The engaged couple kicked off the new year by introducing the world to the newest member of the Irwin clan, their ‘sweet baby girl’ Piggy the puppy.

Yep, that’s right, the lovebirds are currently adjusting to the pitter-patter of four legs with the addition of their gorgeous pup which appears to be a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

“Our family is growing! Chandler and I are so happy to introduce you to our sweetheart Piggy,” Bindi gushed on Instagram alongside a cute snap of her and her beau gazing down at the tiny pooch.

“2020 is going to be beautiful. Happy New Year,” she added.

US-born Chandler took to his own account to welcome Piggy, calling her their ‘newest and cutest’ family member.

“Can’t wait to begin the new decade giving this sweetheart the happiest and most loving home,” the new pet parent wrote.

Bindi’s younger brother Rob Irwin, 16, appears head over heels for Piggy already, sharing several candid snaps and a cute video of the pair playing on the grass.

Piggy is clearly settling into life at Australia Zoo, where her mum and dad live, and is already buddies with the resident pug, Stella Irwin.

Not to be left out, an ‘excited’ Stella hopped on her own account to reveal she’ll be sharing the platform with her ‘new little sister’. How kind!

An Irwin wedding

Bindi and Chandler’s happy family news comes just six months after the smitten pair took their six-year relationship to the next level and announced their engagement.

Floridian Chandler popped the question to his lady love on her 21st birthday, presenting her with a bespoke lab-grown diamond ring.

Since then, the bride-to-be has made sure to share key details of her big day - including who she has chosen to walk her down the aisle in the absence of her late father, Steve Irwin.

Bindi even offered a sneak-peek at her long-sleeved wedding gown which she revealed is inspired by the one her mum Terri wore to marry Steve in 1992.

The couple has yet to announce a wedding date but confirm that it will happen sometime in 2020, with Bindi keen to televise the nuptials on her family’s reality TV series, Crikey! It’s the Irwins.
