Beyoncé Glimmers in Gold Balmain Gown at ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ World Premiere

Beyoncé made the world premiere of “Mufasa: The Lion King” a family affair on Monday in Los Angeles. The Grammy-winning artist walked the red carpet alongside her mother, Tina Knowles, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who makes her film debut in the Disney sequel.

Beyoncé selected a strapless Balmain gown from the label’s collaboration with “The Lion King,” which was covered in mirrored embellishments. Black ankle-strap pumps and gold earrings topped off her look, which was curated by stylist Shiona Turnini.

The “Cowboy Carter” artist wore her blond tresses in waves, while her makeup consisted of shimmery gold eye shadow, rosy blush and pale pink lip gloss.

Knowles, meanwhile, opted for a black off-the-shoulder top and matching trousers. She accessorized with leather gloves, gold bangles, a statement pinky ring and a Schiaparelli belt.

Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala in “Mufasa: The Lion King” after appearing in the 2019 remake of Disney’s animated blockbuster. On Instagram, the pop star said she “could not be prouder” of her eldest child, who voices Simba and Nala’s daughter Kiara.

“My gorgeous baby girl. This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara,” she wrote. “Keep shining.”

This summer, Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing teamed up with Disney to debut a collection inspired by “The Lion King” in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary.

“Obviously, ‘The Lion King’ is about Africa, so it felt like a reference to my own origins,” said the designer, whose discovery of his Somalian and Ethiopian roots was detailed in the 2019 documentary “Wonder Boy.”

Rousteing collaborated with three emerging talents to bring “The Lion King” collection to life: South African painters Nika Mtwana and Cassius Khumalo, plus Cameroonian artist Enfant Précoce.
