Beyoncé is giving her eldest daughter her flowers.
After joining her family on the red carpet for the world premiere of Mufasa last night, Beyoncé posted a rare Instagram tribute dedicated to 12-year-old Blue Ivy. In the live-action Lion King prequel, Blue voices Kiara, the daughter of Beyoncé’s character, Nala.
The Instagram post featured snaps of Blue on the red carpet as she posed in an incredible gilded gold ball gown, which included a draped strapless bodice and a voluminous skirt.
“My gorgeous baby girl. This is your night,” the “Protector” singer wrote in the caption. “You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”
Blue wasn’t the only one walking the red carpet in gold last night. Tapping Balmain, Beyoncé coordinated with her daughter in a black strapless column studded with metallic gold polka dots made out of brass metal leaves. Other details included a plunging, sculptural neckline and a thigh-high leg slit.
Accompanying the mother-and-daughter duo at last night’s event were Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, and mother, Tina Knowles. While the rapper wore a dark brown suit, Knowles opted for an all-black outfit composed of an off-the-shoulder top, pants, and an ornate oversize belt.
The foursome’s appearance comes amid allegations that Jay-Z raped a 13-year-old girl with rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs more than two decades ago. The lawsuit named Combs as the defendant in the original October filing, but it was refiled on Sunday to include Jay-Z.
The anonymous plaintiff alleged that she was raped at a MTV Video Music Awards after party in 2000. Jay-Z has denied the allegations, accusing the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of threatening him with a “blackmail attempt” in order to “make me want to settle,” the musician said in a statement released by Roc Nation.
The accusation comes amid a wave of sex trafficking and racketeering charges made against Combs, who is currently being held in a federal detention facility in Brooklyn following his arrest this past September. Combs, who has pled not guilty, will head to trial in May 2025.
