Bettor places $500,000 moneyline bet on Nuggets ahead of Game 7 matchup with Jazz

At least one NBA fan went all-in on the Denver Nuggets.

Thankfully for that better, it paid off.

A bettor placed a $500,000 wager on the Nuggets to win straight-up in their Game 7 matchup against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. Thanks to Denver’s 80-78 win over the Jazz, the fan earned a more-than $450,000 profit.

Jamal Murray, Donovan Mitchell close incredible series

The Nuggets-Jazz series has been perhaps the most entertaining in the opening round of the playoffs at Walt Disney World — thanks almost exclusively to Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell.

The dueling guards have put up 50 points two different times each in the series, something only three other players in NBA history have ever done. They combined for 101 total points in Game 4, too, when Mitchell edged out Murray by a single point.

The Nuggets took an early 1-0 series lead after rallying back to win the opening matchup by 10 points in overtime. Mitchell put up 57 points in that one, too — a number that somehow wasn’t enough to give Utah the win.

The Jazz then quickly bounced back. Utah won the next three games of the series to take a 3-1 lead, and seemed poised to end the series right there. Yet back-to-back wins by the Nuggets — Murray dropped 50 in Game 6 to give them a 12-point win — sent the series to one final matchup.

That last game, though, was far different from the rest.

The Nuggets edged out the Jazz by two points in an extremely low-scoring matchup. Utah rallied back from a 14-point hole in the second half and nearly hit a game-winner at the end, but Mike Conley’s buzzer-beater was just off the mark.

Mitchell dropped 22 points in the win while shooting 9-of-22 from the field. Murray finished with just 17 points and went only 1-of-6 from behind the arc.

It may not have been pretty, but Denver and the fan will head home happy on Tuesday night.
