Fast Food presenter

Fast Ed Halmagyi is one of Australia’s best-loved TV chefs and food authors, entertaining and informing Australians with achievable, time-conscious, family-friendly cooking. For 10 years Ed has appeared on television and radio, in newspapers, magazines and books.

Best known as the cooking presenter on Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens, Ed transforms elegant restaurant cuisine into recipes that anyone can prepare at home. His motto is simple - “when you do less, the ingredients can do more!”

Professionally, Ed has more than 20 years experience cooking in some of the world’s best restaurants, both in Australia and overseas. His chef’s insider tips and tricks for creating great meals can also be found in any of his books: ‘Nove Cucina’, ‘Dinner in 10’, ‘An Hour’s the Limit’, and ‘The Food Clock’ (released July 2012). On the airwaves, radio listeners throughout Australia are familiar with Ed as the co-host of Better Homes & Gardens Radio, which can be heard nationally.

It’s in Ed’s passion for bakery that you’ll find his philosophy of food: cookery is a process of transformation where simple yet perfect flavours become unforgettable meals. For Ed, it’s all about “great food, made easy”!

Ed undertakes significant charity work with Bear Cottage, Community Greening Australia, Cancer Council Australia and The Dry July Foundation. He is a keen gardener, fisherman, swimmer and long distance runner who is the proud father of two beautiful kids (and an irascible dog). He lives near the beach on Sydney’s Bilgola Plateau.

In 2012, Better Homes and Gardens was awarded a record 10th Silver Logie for Australia’s Most Popular Lifestyle Program. The series is now in its 18th season.

Hi Ed, thanks for the great recipes over the last year. The ideas you offered for the Christmas meals were great and I did at least 3 of them for our Christmas Day breakfast. I would love to send you a picture of the meal, how would I do this? I would love people to see that the foods you show us can be done by people who are definitely not 'chefs'!!!

I posted a question yesterday and do need a reply if possible. If it can't be done please say so. I would like to know the brand of the mixer that Ed uses for beating up flour etc for his cakes etc. My wife has an old Sun Beam and would like one that is used on your show. Thank you.

Hey Ed, why can't ya look directly at the camera instead of the dopey looking turning your head side to side? Damn annoying!

Hu Ed, Could you tell me the name of the saucepans you use? They look like casserole dishes...one green and one cream? And when I can buy them? Thank you Karen

Hi Ed, I notice you have a wood fired pizza oven in your backyard, can you one day perhaps show us a couple of recipes you can cook in it? Thanks Murray (Perth)

Hello ED, I am just wondering how I can find out what the name of a fruit is ? It looks like a wrinkly lemon and I am not sure how to send the photo I have on here. If I can send it direct to an email address then that would be great. Regards, Chris Morris

Hi Ed, I'm in big trouble. My son is turning 5 in just over a weeks time and he wants a Lightening McQueen cake for his birthday. My husband saw one on the internet where the bottom looked like a race track with Lightening McQueen on top and I haven't got the slightest idea how to go about it? Is this a challenge for you, too, or are you able to help me out? Can't wait to hear back from you with your suggestion on the matter. Rabea

Hi Ed, My son is 9 and needs to avoid preservatives, artificial colours and artificial flavours. I find it difficult to give him his favourite things, when they have all those nasties in them. He loves hotdogs and sausages, is there some recipes you could do for these. Thanks

Hi Ed, was wondering what type of cookware you use on the show, its yellow on the outside and has a non stick interior lining and I have seen you use another similar looking pot as well, thanks.
