Duffy the Irish terrier is one lucky dog.

The blind pooch underwent surgery to restore the eyesight he lost to diabetes. The operation was successful, and his owners recorded the moment they were reunited with their furry friend - and it's as heartwarming as it is emotional.

In the video, Duffy joyfully squeals and plants kisses on everyone in the room.

The adopted terrier's ordeal started months ago, when veterinarians diagnosed him with diabetes.

"Within about 3-5 months he went from a totally normal 8-year-old dog to a dog who was completely blind," his owner wrote on Reddit.

"It broke my heart seeing this dog I grew up with … running into things, not being able to recognise me," he continued.

Doctors and the family were able to get Duffy's diabetes stable enough for surgery to repair his sight.

How is Duffy today? "He's a trooper," his owner shared with well-wishers on reddit.
