Where Ben Affleck Stands on Dating Amid Jennifer Lopez Divorce
Lopez filed for divorce in August.
While Ben Affleck's divorce from Jennifer Lopez is still pending, the actor is keeping himself focused on what matters most: work and adjusting to being a newly single man.
Affleck is so tuned into work right now that Page Six reports that he has “no interest” in dating new people (RIP to his Raya profile). Instead, the 52-year-old is “focused on numerous projects he’s working on” and is “still adjusting to the single life” while the details of his divorce becomes finalized. “Ben has no interest in jumping into another relationship at the moment,” the source added.
Lopez is dealing with the split in a similar way, with People recently reporting that the star is "focused on her own life" and is making the best of a difficult situation, with a source adding, "she has had a rough year but is doing well. She's ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh."
That doesn't mean that Lopez and Affleck's relationship has had the cleanest of breaks. Back in September, sources previously reported that the former couple was continuing to spend time together—the singer was even spending time at Ben's house while the pair were going on co-parenting dates with their respective children.
“There’s still a lot of love between them, but the divorce is still going forward,” a source told Us Weekly at the time, explaining that Lopez and Affleck were having some “lingering doubts” and “hesitation” about their decision. The source added, “When they’re together as a family and see the kids together, it reminds them of how good they are as a team and what’s important.”
Part of Lopez and Affleck's hesitation at the time stemmed from there being a deep overlap in their lives, but the insider noted that the breakup is most likely final. “They both know they will be in each other’s lives because of the kids and are remaining friendly,” the source explained. “But the divorce is still happening. A lot of their issues stemmed from lifestyle differences. They are just on completely different schedules—and nothing has changed [since breaking up].”
While the aforementioned source remained adamant that they will move forward with the divorce, another told the outlet that there was “a small chance” of reconciliation. “J.Lo has stayed over at Ben’s place a couple times," the insider said. "When it’s good, it’s really good, but when it’s bad, it’s really bad—and things are so good when they are friends. If things are better between them because they’re separated, that’s a reason the divorce would go through.”
