Ben Affleck Fans 'Didn't Expect' His Bold Opinion on Controversial Subject Regarding the Future of Hollywood

From the looks of it, Ben Affleck has many layers that fans weren't necessarily completely aware of—but he showed a different side of himself during a recent chat on a news program.

While speaking with CNBC during a recent interview, the Air star left several of his supporters shocked with his stance on a controversial topic in relation to the future of Hollywood: A.I. (Artificial Intelligence).

In a sit-down discussion during his appearance at the Delivering Alpha 2024 investor summit, he was asked to provide his honest opinion on if he sees the non-human technological advances as a "benefit" or a "real threat."

The moderator of the conversation then provided an example to give further context to his question. "Is it possible that a Netflix could say, 'Ya know, we're gonna do our own James Bond thing out there with a bunch of actors that are completely recreated for this market or that market?'"

"A: That's not possible now. B: Will it be possible in the future? Highly unlikely. C: Movies will be one of the last things, if everything gets replaced, to be replaced by A.I.," the Gone Girl actor bluntly cut in.

"A.I. can write you excellent imitative verse that sounds Elizabethan, it cannot write you Shakespeare," Affleck continued. "The function of having two actors or three or four actors in a room and the taste to discern and construct, that is something that currently entirely eludes A.I.'s capability and I think will for a meaningful period of time."

He continued: "What A.I. is going to do is going to disintermediate the laborious, less creative and more costly aspects of filmmaking that will allow costs to be brought down, that will lower the barrier for entry, that will allow more voices to be heard, that will make it easier for the people that want to make Good Will Huntings to go out and make it."

The Hypnotic star continued to make his case, essentially communicating the viewpoint that in his opinion, A.I. simply cannot replace human interaction, but will make things easier for certain functions when it comes to filmmaking and the future of the movie-making industry.

Fans online seemed highly impressed with the way Affleck explained his feelings on the concept, taking to the comment section of a video shared via social media with their reactions.

"Didn’t expect Ben Affleck to have the most articulate and realistic explanation where video models and Hollywood is going," one admitted while posting a clip of the event to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Nov. 17.

“'Craft is knowing how to work. Art is knowing when to stop,' daaamn [sic] Affleck hittin [sic] BARS," another pointed out.

"The craftsman analogy was brilliant. It’s like his brain woke up again," a third said, in part.

An additional X user attempted to simplify the rhetoric, writing, "So in other words, AI is imitative, not creative."

Meanwhile, someone else didn't seem as shocked, adding, "Why is it surprising? Ben Affleck is smart. He also has a far better contextual understanding than most people - he actually makes things."

"He was pretty accurate about streaming back in August 2003," a different person echoed, sharing a throwback video of Affleck to the social media platform.
