Beloved Goonies star Jeff Cohen is unrecognisable

It's been over 35 years since The Goonies was released with fan favourite Chunk, played by Jeff Cohen, looking completely unrecognisable these days.

The 48-year-old is still in the entertainment biz, but as a partner at entertainment law firm Cohen Gardner LLP.

Jeff has previously shared that he didn't give up acting, but acting instead gave up on him.

Speaking with the Daily Mail in 2015 to celebrate The Goonies' 30th anniversary, he revealed he quit Hollywood when he stopped being able to put himself forward in the "fat kid roles".

"There were basically about four fat kids in town, so every time there was a fat kid role you saw the same people at the audition," the former actor shared at the time.

"It was survival of the fattest. But when I hit puberty, it was a career-ender for me. I was transforming from Chunk to hunk and I couldn’t get roles anymore."

"It was terrible. My first love was acting, but puberty had other ideas. It was a forced retirement. I didn't give up acting. Acting gave me up."

After The Goonies, Jeff worked in the 1987 TV show Popeye and Son, and voiced Grunt in the movie Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School.

His last acting gig was in the TV movie Perfect Harmony in 1991.

While he might not have continued acting, Jeff still has lots of fans who comment on his Instagram account, with one user recently writing, "Chunk is a legend! I named my Guinea pig Chunk and he remains the cutest and most badass pet I ever had."

"Rewatched [The Goonies] recently, it’s even better as an adult," another wrote. "Best movie!"

"I don’t think there was a single child born in the 80s who didn’t want to be a Goonie," a third wrote.

While Jeff didn't continue acting for very long, a few of the film's stars have gone on to be very successful, including Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan and Joe Pantoliano.

Josh Brolin, in particular, has gone on to achieve huge success in films such as Dune, Avengers: Endgame and Deadpool 2, to name a few.

Sean Astin recently appeared in Stranger Things season two and is most famous for his role as Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings films.
