Bec Hewitt has given birth to a baby girl. The new baby Hewitt was very keen to be born, arriving six weeks before her due date!

A surprised Bec was rushed by car from her Dural home to Royal North Shore Private Hospital - where her other two children Mia (4) and Cruz (1) were also born - arriving with her parents in the back seat.

After being whisked into the hosptial, Bec had a short labour, free of complications, and was soon safely delivered of her bundle of joy.

Her tennis star husband Lleyton broke the news on the couple's blog on Saturday, writing: 'Bec, Mia, Cruz and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family last Tuesday. Mum and baby are great! Dad, big sister and brother elated.'

Family and friends of Bec and Lleyton, including Bec's mother, Michele Cartwright, successfully kept the birth a secret until the official announcement.

Lleyton has also said that the baby's name will be sent to subscribers to their blog via SMS this week.

Congratulations to the Hewitt family!

Update: The Hewitt's plan to charge fans $2 to receive an SMS service revealing their baby's name has been thwarted. It has been announced via email that Bec and Lleyton's new baby girl is named Ava Sydney.
