Here's How To Work Glitter Into Your Every Day Make-Up Routine

You heard it here first: Glitter is making a comeback on the runway.

Fashion Week Australia was awash with glitter, stars and diamonds all week, with a handful of shows choosing to light up their models' faces with a sprinkle of sparkle.

The enchanting looks kicked off backstage at Swarovski on Monday evening, where Redken hair director Philip Barwick created a dazzling ponytail on the models, using nothing but a glitter and hairspray.

Barwick flat ironed the ponytail and sprayed it with Super Strength Hairspray.

Then he applied the glitter to the ends of the hair and set it with a diffuser until he got that luminous effect that shimmered as the models took to the Swarovski stage.

Glitter was also the main attraction at the By Johnny show on Tuesday morning, where Maybelline makeup artist Nigel Stanislaus "salted" the models with a dusting of gold glitter, adding a dreamy highlighter to their faces.

It didn't stop there at the By Johnny show, as the girls' nails were painted with Maybelline Color Show nail polish in Latte, which was then sprinkled with glitter before another coat was added on top.

Sephora pulled out all the stops at the Romance Was Born show, which was inspired by ‘Liberace Angels’, aligning with the inspiration for the Whispering Angel Collection by the designers.

Bold colours and heavily glittered eyes brought to life the vibrant colelction by the designers and while it may not be to everyone's everyday taste, we're a massive fan of the gold glitter eyebrows Sephora creative director Linda Jefferyes created for the models.

A mixture of glitter and soft nail polishes were also applied to the models' nails which were rounded to soften the looks.

The Emma Mulholland show was an ode to David Bowie and Prince, so it was only right the models' faces would be adorned with bright pops of stars.

Maybelline make-up artist Nigel Stanislaus used Dream Velvet Foundation to create a dewy glow on the models, before drawing all the attention to the eyes with clusters of stars on their cheeks.

He finished off the look with Color Show nail polish in Glitter It.
