Love experimenting with makeup looks without buying a thing?

Then you’ll need to download L'Oreal Paris' new Makeup Genius app.

The free app uses facial mapping technology to allow you to see exactly how different products look on you.

Once your pic has been uploaded to your iPhone, iPad or Android device, the app analyses 64 data points of your appearance.

You can then start scanning any of the 4500 L’Oreal products available in Australia and see what they look like when applied on your face.

If you don’t want to try each product individually, there are entire model looks you can copy, which will have your face made up the same way in an instant.

You can of course then share on social media and get your friends to rate your new ‘look’.

So far in the US, France and China the app has been downloaded more than 10 million times.

Christophe Eymery, head of digital L’Oreal Australia, says the company predicts 500,000 downloads in Australia by the end of the year.

"Our ambition for Makeup Genius was to create a game-changing digital experience that was on par with the same best-in-class standards as our product portfolio," he said.

"The Makeup Genius mobile app is the solution to try before you buy that is accessible to women everywhere right at their fingertips."

The app is available through Apple’s App store and Google Play.
