Novak Djokovic: Altitude Training

Djokovic has been known to head to the European Alps during the off season, to embark on some altitude training. Alitutude training is said to improve the delivery of oxygen to the muscles, and supposedly lead to better performance at sea level. The jury's out on this one.

    Djokovic's impressive performances this year is remarkable and I have a hard time believing his improvement is due to altitude training alone. Even he says he grew up in the mountains so I don't see why 10 days at altitude would give him such an edge. I have only seen this sort of dramatic improvement in performance with patients of mine who have used CVAC technology. As evidenced by scientific studies, use of the CVAC system increases athletic performance in elite athletes by as much as 5%.
