Wheelchair athlete clears 15 metre jump

Think gliding down a MegaRamp on a skateboard is scary? Try doing it in a wheelchair.

The MegaRamp has mostly been the domain of skateboarders over the past decade, the steep ramp being the stage of daring tricks and jumps.

But over the weekend in Brazil, 21 year old wheelchair motocross athlete Aaron 'Wheelz' Fotheringham flew down the towering ramp and cleared the 15 metre jump (or 50 foot for our American friends) in a wheelchair.

Not only did he accomplish that, he landed smoothly and set a new record in front of 10,000 cheering fans.

But it wasn't over for him yet - after clearing the gap, the down-sloped landing lead to a vertical quarterpipe wall which sent Aaron airbone again.

He navigated the trick and nearly stuck his landing on the quarterpipe but just lost balance after a hand-plant on the sticker.
