Bad Monkey Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+
Bad Monkey has been pretty good to Apple TV+, it seems: The Vince Vaughn-led detective comedy has been renewed for a second season, TVLine has learned, with Vaughn set to return.
“I hope that people know that Carl Hiaasen is an idol of mine and an inspiration for me as a writer,” showrunner and executive producer Bill Lawrence said in a statement. “To get to go on telling his story with Vince Vaughn and this great cast, at least the characters who are still alive, is very exciting. I’m very thankful to our partners at Apple TV+ and Warner Bros, as well as the entire team that helps bring this show to life.”

Vaughn stars as Andrew Yancy, a police detective who investigated a bizarre crime in the Florida Keys while on suspension from the force. Natalie Martinez co-starred in Season 1 as coroner Rosa, who emerged as a love interest for Yancy, with Rob Delaney and Meredith Hagner playing married scammers Nick and Eve Stripling. The cast also included Ronald Peet as Neville, John Ortiz as Ro, Jodie Turner-Smith as Gracie (aka the Dragon Queen) and Michelle Monaghan as Bonnie.
Debuting in August, Bad Monkey wrapped up its 10-episode freshman season in October. The finale found Yancy and Rosa agreeing to part ways — and Yancy’s friend Ro tempting him to look into another case. (Read our full season finale recap here.) The first season was based on the Carl Hiaasen novel Bad Monkey, and for those of you looking for early Season 2 clues: Hiaasen did pen a sequel featuring Yancy, Razor Girl, that was published in 2016.
