Backstreet Boys star's incredible body transformation: 'Amazing'

AJ McLean, who rose to fame in the 90s boy band Backstreet Boys, has stunned followers with a snap of his recent body transformation.

The 44-year-old shared a photo on Instagram from a year ago of him standing on the beach posing his hands in a peace sign, before comparing it to two other snaps he took looking ripped at a gym mid-workout.

"Thought I’d do a little throwback Thursday vibes," he captioned the post.

"Found the pic on the left from a year ago on vacation and wow it’s amazing what a little dedication and setting goals can do for a person.

"The journey is far from over though. This is just the beginning! #healthylifestyle #sober #nomoredadbod! Let’s go! If I can do it so can you!!"

The inspiring before and after photos were shared following AJ's journey to sobriety.

Speaking to the Recovering from Reality podcast last year, the musician said he had tried to get sober in the past but was a "chronic relapser".

"I am a chronic relapser, but I've never gone for like a month straight of just drinking and partying. It's been like one night and then I'm sober for a week or two. And then it's one night. It was always back and forth," he told the podcast.

He added after he performed with the Backstreet Boys he would "black out, fall asleep and wake up as if nothing ever happened."

"I didn't even see the sunlight for two years, literally," he said.

"But today, that insecurity level has gone significantly down."

As part of his journey to getting sober, AJ said he had enrolled in a 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous program.

Fans went wild after the I Want It That Way singer shared his transformation on Instagram.

"Thanks for motivating us ... Yes, we can," one commented.

"You're amazing! Keep going!" another encouraged.

"Healthy looks so good on you," a third added.
