Bachelor producers hint they are urgently looking for their male suitor

Following the debacle that was the end of Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor, there’s a lot of pressure on Channel Ten to produce a good male suitor this year.

But they may be in a little trouble, after their Head of Programming, Daniel Monaghan, appeared to hint that they still haven’t haven’t chosen a leading man, despite the fact that filming is meant to start next month.

“It’s very close to filming, and we have cast all the girls. We are probably a month away from production,” he said in an interview with TV Tonight.

Daniel then spoke in future tense when he said, “We’ll find a man who is ‘desirable’, wants to settle down and people will want to follow his journey and the girl he chooses. He may be funny, he may not be…”

Judging by these comments, it seems that all the female hopefuls have been selected and all they need now is their leading Bachelor.

However, it was confirmed that Channel Ten is looking to “steer in a different direction this year” and may go back to casting someone unknown rather than a celebrity.

“Honey Badger and Sophie Monk both brought an element of humour to it but finding a celebrity with their quick wit who is single and at an age where they want to settle down is very difficult to find.”

“Our male seasons such as Sam Wood, Richie… have been successful [in ratings] and they all offered something different,” he added, implying they may go down this path again.

Meanwhile, Bachie fans are getting excited to see Richie Strahan return for this year’s Bachelor In Paradise that is set to start after Married At First Sight finishes.

With talk that Richie will be on the island with his ex Alex Nation (who won his season in 2016), it’s likely to be pretty juicy.

And it seems the mum-of-one Alex may have found herself a new man in paradise and it’s none other than one of Bachelorette star Ali Oetjen’s male suitor – Bill Goldsmith.

Alex and Bill were seen kissing in a park in Melbourne last month, reportedly just after the pair returned from Fiji, where they filmed Bachelor In Paradise.

This looks promising.
