A Bachelor US contestant is going viral after faking an Australian accent on the first night in order to stand out.
The American beauty is seen arriving at the mansion and introducing herself to Colton Underwood with a subtle, stereotypical Australian accent.
“You’ve got a nice accent,” Colton states. “Where are you from?”
“Um, the accent? It’s Australian. I was hoping that you’d be a sucker for accents,” Bri replies. “I didn’t know what you’d think about it.”
The contestant clearly thought her answer through before hand because she doesn’t claim to be from Australia, just that the accent he can hear is Australia.
Then in a piece to camera, she reveals: “I’m not really Australian. But you have to do what you can to stand out.”
Naturally the plot twist has tickled viewers, with many sharing their reactions to the clip.
“I hope she makes it all the way to the end without revealing the truth… and then he meets her family,” one wrote.
“There was a little bit of Australian there at the start and then she went into a South African accent,” another commented.
“At the first catfight that Australian accent is over,” another quipped.
“Well she didn’t lie. He asked her where she’s from and she said her accent is Australian not her. Love it,” added another.
Time will tell how things work out for Bri and her fake accent.
