Former Bachie star opens up about devastating miscarriage

Heather Maltman, who appeared on Sam Wood’s season of The Bachelor Australia, has opened up about her devastating miscarriage.

The 34-year-old actor and podcast creator, took to her Instagram account to reveal to her loyal followers that she and her partner, photographer Matt Baker, are taking some time away from their One podcast, because they need time to heal.

@baksey01 and I have decided to end the ONE podcast for its first season. And pick it up again in 2020. After the last 2 months. And having to say goodbye to our little person Llewy... We need time to heal,” Heather wrote.

“We named you Llewy after the name Lewis from @gogonads and @tonylewis52... 🌸👼🏻 I have gotten over 100 direct messages from women. And Matt has gotten both men and women... sharing an outpour of what they went through. And how scared they are to talk about miscarriage openly.”

She went on to say that because of this, they’ve decided to start a new relationship podcast together where they’ll talk about ‘all of the things people are too scared to discuss’.

“I’ve gotten your messages fellow listeners of the episodes for ONE together, and we won’t leave you hanging. Promise ✨,” Heather wrote.

Heather went on to thank everyone at Randwick Macquarie ward who has helped her out in hospital over the past two weeks when she got a strong reaction to medication and complications that results in surgery.

The former Bachelor star’s post comes just two weeks after she posted a picture from her hospital bed, alongside a gushing post about her ‘rock’ and partner Matt.

Heather said she’s been in and out of Randwick hospital in Sydney, with Matt sleeping on the floor and taking her to the toilet.

She said that when she took that photo it was ‘one of the saddest moments’ of their journey together because it was Matt’s birthday and she was about to go into surgery.

“He will wait by my side until I go under. And has been getting minimal sleep. He has been picking up my slack for work. And just been... f***ng everything to me,” Heather said.

She went on to apologise to her 4,000 podcast listeners for not having a new episode up online this week.

Heather became the nation’s sweetheart back in 2015, when she appeared on The Bachelor Australia.

However, she was pipped to the post by Snezana Markoski, who went on to marry Sam Wood and the couple are now the proud parents to three children.

Back in May, Heather decided to give up her radio gig at SCA’s 90.9 Sea FM to focused on producing her own podcast.
