A Baby Bit Prince William During His Trip to Singapore
The Earthshot Prize awards ceremony is already off to a great start.
The third annual Earthshot Prize awards ceremony is coming up on Tuesday and Prince William is already in Singapore to kick off the festivities. Ahead of the big event tomorrow, the Prince of Wales had a full schedule of royal appointments, which included an appearances at the Jewel, a nature-themed entertainment and shopping area that's attached to Changi Airport’s passenger terminals (you know, that amazing airport with the waterfall and butterfly garden). People reports that while he was greeting well-wishers, a baby named Albane Costa took hold of William's finger and brought it to his mouth. And while that may be something that could start an international incident, the prince brushed of the little bite and said, “I need my finger. I need my finger back!"
Liza Dicoy shared a video of the incident to X, showing the whole exchange.
"How's he sleeping? Is he sleeping OK? Good,” William asked Albane's parents before Fingergate. The parents noted that their kiddo was “very sweet" before it all went down.
Royal photographer Chris Jackson, shared a photo of the silly and sweet moment on Instagram, writing that Albane “took a liking [to] (and wouldn’t give back! 🤣)" William’s hand.

While Kate wasn't in attendance at the event (and won't be coming to Singapore at all), she has been open about wanting to expand her family.
"It makes me very broody," she said at the Copenhagen Infant Mental Health Project during a solo tour of Denmark in February 2022. "William always worries about me meeting under 1-year-olds. I come home saying, 'Let's have another one.'"
And while we're not sure whether or not another baby could be on the way soon, Kate has made kids a focus of her royal work, including the Shaping Us campaign from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
"Can you get my wife out of here before she gets broody?" William joked about Kate during a recent trip to Scotland, where the Princess of Wales met an infant named Saul at St. John's Primary School.
William established the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to "promote impactful approaches to the world's most pressing environmental challenges" and plans to continue the venture through 2030. The Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony was previously a standalone event, where £1 million ($1.2 million) in prizes was awarded to 15 finalists across five categories — Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. This year, it expanded to Earthshot Week, with 120 young leaders from across Southeast Asia coming together to promote their causes and learn about efforts to help the environment.
