Yahoo Lifestyle Babe, wake up! Glossier has released two (!!) new You fragrances
Glossier have had some genuinely iconic products over the years. I mean I don’t know one beauty obsessive that doesn’t adore the Stretch Concealer, I have THREE Ultralip High Shine Lip Crèmes in Cachet because it’s the perfect Black girl brown and don’t even get me started on the star that is Balm Dot Com (we thank god that the original formula is back). But nothing has united noses like the brand’s perfume, Glossier You, has.
When it launched back in 2017 fandom rippled pretty instantly across the industry. With notes of flowery iris, punchy pink pepper then ambroxan and ambrette holding up the base, the scent is warm and creamy with a hint of spice, but the most important note is you – hence the name, duh. It’s a skin scent that truly does smell a little different on everyone, thanks to our unique pH level and pheromones. Crowd-pleasing but cool, the formula took the team 38 attempts to get right but the outcome was a scent that is a bestseller; kinda wild but one sells roughly every 17 seconds globally.
Now, seven years after You hit the shelves, the team have added two new scents to the family. Both new additions, You Rêve and You Doux (not deux although it was the second You they created) have the same base notes as the original and the same nose behind it, so you get the familar warm, skin-scent that we love but with a new twist depending on your vibe.
At the launch party, founder Emily Weiss described You as a classic martini, in the way that martinis are served in a multitude of ways; with a lemon rind, straight up, with plenty of olive brine... you get the jist, but ultimately the base is pure vodka. The You fragrance collection (more to come, friends) is basically that, a solid base and the customisation of top and middle notes is what sets them apart. So with all that being said, here’s everything you need to know…
Glossier You Rêve Eau De Parfum, £62
Top notes: Buttercream
Middle notes: Plum butter, toasted almond, iris & sandalwood
Base notes: Ambrox & ambrette
This is original You's sweet but grown-up sister. She’s not super gourmand, no no, but she’s got a richness to her sweet side that makes you wanna nuzzle in but also wanna party. Weiss describes this as a date night scent and yes, we cosign. The dry down isn’t cloying or vanilla-ry at all as the warmth of the base notes really balance it out. If you like the idea of something sweet but are in a musk chokehold, you need to try a spritz of this.

Top notes: Sweet violet
Middle notes: Palo santo, frankincense, myrrh
Base notes: Ambrox & ambrette
Woody fans, your next fix is here. Frank Voelkl is the nose behind the original You and both new drops, but did you know he’s also the pefumier behind Le Labo Santal 33 and my personal fave from the brand, The Noir 29; two of the best woody scents known to the beauty world so of course this was going to slap. The middle notes really sing in the first spritz but as it dries down, you’re left with an easy woodiness (doux literally means soft in French so you catch the vibe) that isn’t overtly masculine and has that creamy, musky base to keep things warm.
